This is an awesome addition and my son loves excavators. The only downside is you are not able to scoop up the sand/dirt without it falling out. The bucket is flat with no bend to it and the arm is not short enough to pull it in so that the sand can fall to the back of the bucket. We are looking into making our own modifications because it frustates our son to not be able to move the dirt around in piles. If Avenlur fixes this the excavator would 5 stars. Excellent customer service as well.
This is absolutely one of those things that if you don't have one for every kid in the house, prepare for who gets first and constant negotiating about it's use. It's hands down the favorite between my 3 year old and 6 year old and even my 9 year old likes to throw her hat in the ring. It's wood, it's sturdy and functional. I wouldn't leave it out in the winter and drag it under the deck when it's not in use just to make sure it maintains it's quality.Super easy to use, super portable and I love that it's not plastic or having to be fixed to a specific location. Two thumbs up here!
Assembly was straightforward, directions were clear and accurate and actually included. The wood is pretty good quality and finished well. We expect this to hold up outside very well. We move it under a covered patio when not in use, but don’t worry too much when it’s out for a few days in a row.The wood itself has a few imperfections, nothing unexpected. There were 2 places where the hole was drilled and wasn’t quite cut all the way through. We were able to sand it down easily, but if we didn’t have other tools, it would have been annoying. I debated taking a star off for this, but because instructions were good and everything else lined up well, I didn’t.For the playing, my 2 year old struggles getting it to move, but gets it and my 4 year old handles it easily. They both love it and I love that it doesn’t tip over like some others w even used in the past.
