Whitney Brothers®

Materials: The company selects wood suppliers whose responsible forestry management plans (FSC, PEFC) align with their goal to utilize the environment in a sustainable, responsible, low-impact manner. This philosophy supports their mission to design and manufacture innovative, safe, and durable products for children, proudly made in America. These products are GREENGUARD™ Gold Certified for indoor air quality and supported by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Finishes: A non-toxic, non-yellowing, durable ultra-violet (UV) finish is applied to the products, which does not release harmful solvents into the atmosphere during the curing and drying process, unlike water-based finishes. The company uses an automated roll coater process for applying the UV finish, achieving a remarkable 99.99% transfer efficiency and virtually eliminating any dispersion of UV finish into the atmosphere.

Wood Scrap: The state-of-the-art CNC automated machinery and optimized manufacturing processes employed by the company produce maximum yield from wood stock with exceptionally little waste. They collect and donate any wood waste to local organizations that repurpose the material for their own use.

Packaging for Shipment: An innovative cardboard box making machine is used to eliminate cardboard scrap and prevent shipping damage to packaged items. The machine receives product dimensions via a network connection to configure a cardboard shipping box for each product that comes off the production line. This process enables the company to produce packaging "on demand" and virtually eliminates cardboard waste.

Electronic Data vs. Paper: The company is a certified lean organization, with the entire factory connected electronically through an enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform. This system provides 100% visibility and access to the entire manufacturing process, from upfront design in CAD to CNC, finishing, assembly processes, and shipping. They receive and transmit over 90% of their customer communications, such as orders, freight quotes, and invoicing, electronically, eliminating the use of paper.

California Proposition 65 [Cal Prop 65]: All products manufactured by the company participate in an ongoing 3rd Party Laboratory Testing Program to test for compliance with Cal Prop 65. As a result, none of their products are required to include a Cal Prop 65 warning label.
